Hi all:)
Just about finished my first Baron. Almost:(
I forgot one minor thing when I was putting it together.
Forgot to press the plastic thingy with the threads into
the end cap. I've all ready taken off the clip and cap.
Since both ends are the same size is it possible to press
it through the end cap way and make it still work. Or is there
a way I can get the center band off without messing it up.
Any help as always is greatly appreciated.
This is probably [:I] a crazy question, but when you screw in
the fountain pen nib, how do you get it to line up on the tube
where you want it. Seems like a Rubicks cube to me:D

I forgot one time and did just what you did. Just find a drill bit the same size as the tube and use the blunt end to push the fitting out. Or you could turn some wood to fit tightly inside the tube and do the same thing. The key is a blunt object that tightly fits the ID of the brass to push with.

On getting things to line up... install the part (like the nib) in the holder and gently press it into the tube by hand. Then remove the part (nib) and use your press to seat it the rest of the way. Use the same to line up the grain between the cap and the pen body (nib and posted positions).

You will need to punch the center band out. You can either use a bolt that barely fits inside the tube or Harbor freight has a set of punches that will help you disassemble just about any pen kit.

Prior to insertion of the center band assembly into the upper barrel, screw the nib holder onto the lower barrel. Slide the lower barrel into the upper barrel and align the grain, then press the center band assembly part way into the upper barrel. Separate two barrels and finish pressing the center band assembly into the upper barrel.

I hope this helps. [8D]

Thanks all[:D]
Found a drill bit about the right size and knocked the center
band out with it. Thanks for the encouragement. Still haven't
gotten the tubes exactly lined up. Using some of BBs red fleck
acrylic anyway, hard to tell they don't match exactly.

Thanks again

I have done this TWICE! It is even more frusterating the second time. I now have a set of 2 old drill bits I use just for the Baron dissasembly. Both times I took the piece apart with a dull drill bit. It is actually one of the easier pens to take apart. If you have several Barons try writing on the directions in big letters a reminder. I find this helps for me. I have a habit of skimming over the directions. Good luck! Alice
