Hello all I saw a tutorial by one of the Gisi brothers and I'm trying to make a scalloped pen blank. It looks like a dragon scale or a shingle pattern ( how ever you wana look at it) I'm starting with lots of uniform pieces and I cutting a 45degree angle I glue a piece on . then I roll the blank over and cut again. I think I'm doing something really wrong as I'm getting more of a candy cane spiral more than I am getting a solid blank I could turn... Am I using a wrong angle? does the 45 degree cut need to stop at the center of the blank ???? help:( please

Hard to say without pics or something to see what you are doing, but perhaps you are indexing the subsequent cuts off the wrong end that keeps changing length - getting shorter with each cut?
