Bakelite from India? There is a fair amount of it on eBay, not antique, but in a variety of interesting colors. I'd be interested to know if anyone has any experience with it.

I am NOT familiar with this exact product!!!

However, there are sources for ebonite in India as well. In inquiries, I have been informed that they "check it" for machineability. They do not (so far) guarantee it can be worked. So far, they have no references.

Caveat emptor!

Yes and no! I bought some on e-bay. It passed the 409 test and I cracked it down the middle upon drill. E-bay, so no recourse.

I tried gluing it, but it left an exact straight line down both sides of the break.

I don't know if I am to blame, or if I got a bad stick. Either way, I quit buying bakelite on ebay.

I've seen the ads you're talking about. The biggest thing that keeps me from trying it is that the person uses the same picture for mutiple ads. I like to see exactly what I'm buying if it's on ebay.
