Rhododendron? I picked up a couple sizable branches from my daughter that I need to let season. Curious if anybody has tried this?

I took some prunings of a rhododendron from my Church last year. I haven't used it for any pens yet, but I did make a miniature vase from a piece. Photo below of it.

I have not made any pens, but have made some walking canes and some weed pots. The wood is fairly hard, Small pieces are quite handsome if you can leave some of the brown layer under the bark in place. Here is a photo of one - sorry about the small size. Except for that, the wood is relatively featureless and fairly white in color.

Look on yonder misty mountain
See the young monk meditating rhododendron forest
Over dusty years, I ask you
What's it been like being you ?

I saw a pen either here or on TPS that was turned from Rhododendron...
lots of it growing wild here in my area.. planning to pick up some next time I can get into the mountains.. (probably after the temps rise... I don't do cold)

I found the link.. it was ont TPS... made a very nice pen.
