Im probably showing my newness to pen making by asking but here goes. I am fond of the Berea Euro Doubletwist pens and have made many of them. I hate the refill it comes with so purchased upgraded ones. When you assemble the transmission you press the finial into the top of the transmission and then it slides into the barrel and the ring presses onto the exposed barrel of the other side. My question is.....if the upgraded refills are a bit longer or shorter.....how can I adjust the transmission accordingly when the kits seem to have an unadjustable assembly method? Am I making this as clear as mud?

If the refill is too short, you can make the barrel shorter by trimming some of the brass tube.

However, if you are planning on selling the pens, my advice would be to stick with the same style of refill. They will be within a couple of hundredths regardless of manufacturer.
