glued on barrels

it looks like I inadvertently glued some slimline barrels onto the mandrel. How do I remove them without damaging the wood? Once I get them off, I can always refinish them again.

Worse-case scenario, just turn all the way through the wood and brass to save the mandrel. Otherwise, see the above solutions. I'd use a couple sharp raps with a tool to snap the glue loose, and then move on to acetone if that doesn't work.

I had the same problem one time. I put the whole mandrel rod into a bottle of nail polish remover (acetone) and let it soak. I took a couple of days, but the tubes came off. The bloodwood gave up a little color to the acetone but was OK otherwise.
