When using pickguard material, what glue works best to bond the wood and synthetics together?

After an angled cut (45, 22.5, etc.) has been made and the contrasting wood or whatever has been added--how do you clamp to get pressure on the glue joints? I have tried various methods with little success.

I haven't tried pickguard material, but I suspect that it using ivory is similar. When I did my Amboyna Burl pen with recycled piano key ivory single cross, I first tried Gorilla glue. It came apart during drilling, so I glued it back together with CA and it worked great.

As for clamping, I use my BS sled which has a 1x2 piece of oak for the cross piece. I put a piece of wax paper or saran wrap on it and clamp one piece to it with the cut facing the oak. That way you can apply pressure lengthwise to the blank.
