Does anyone have experience turning these pens?
Does the blank have to be 1" or can you use a standard 3/4" blank for these?

I'd appreciate any feedback for these pens.
Thanks.

I've done half a dozen of these--3/4" is fine. I forget the exact bushing size--you might even get away with 5/8" if your drilling setup is accurate.

Here's one I did (and sold) a while ago. It is in Algerian Briar, which was no more that 3/4".

Thanks for the info. I bought both sets of bushings when I got them.
For the regular Gatsby & the Gatsby Grande, that is.
That is one smooth looking pen.

Thanks! Just looked up the bushings on the IAP phone app--the Grande uses .525" bushings, so 5/8" being .625 probably wouldn't work, but 3/4", no problem at all.

Looking forward to seeing your creations.

Michael

I've turned a couple, and both were with 3/4" blanks. One was round, and the other square. No problems with either.
