The way I see it, there are several reasons for not having a separate fountain pen forum. Feel free to disagree.

The biggest problem is having enough people with an interest in the topic. There is already a fountain pen forum on the "The Pen Shop" website, and it gets no about 3 messages a month from the same 3 people. That doesn't indicate a lot of interest.

The 2nd is management. A fountain pen forum needs a moderator and a resident expert who can impart their knowledge. The person or persons who could perform those functions are difficult to find. So far. nobody has stepped up and volunteered.

And then there is the fact that, except for the nib questions, a fountain pen is no different from any other pen we might make. They are all about turning, fitting and finishing, and we already have forums for those topics. That leaves the nib discussions, and there aren't enough of those to warrant a separate forum.

And then there is Jeff's reluctance to add another feature to an already crowded site. There had better be a loud call for it before it will happen. A flurry of messages to Jeff begging for a fountain forum would change his mind. So far that hasn't happened.

Quoted for truth, especially #3.

If someone is looking for fountain pen information not related to turning (writing, nibs, ink, etc),there are several fountain pen specific websites that have far more expertise than we have.
