Fountain pen skips

I have a fountain that skips. Is it an ink problem or a nib problem
or is it operator error? Everything works good when I write slow, skipping starts as I write at ball point speed.

Alan, could be a number of problems, Flush the nib out with cold water, feed could be cloged, using a cartridge or converter? Less expensive converters suffer from air lock and cause feed problems, buy a good converter, a Schmidt. Try different ink, smooth your nib out with MM, like polish it and I am sure there are more causes, but this will get you started.
