Hello everybody,

I'm looking for a purple flecked celluloid pen blank as seen below. Wood Turners Catalog used to carry them, but they are no longer available. I'd greatly appreciate any help you could offer.

Thank you,
Steve

I think Penn State Ind. used to sell them. Where they round blanks? I may even have some left from about 6 years ago. They were a deep purple color.

Hi Keith,

The blanks Wood Turners carried were square although I'll check Penn State. And yes, they are a deep purple. A 'true' purple with black veins separating the flecks.

I doubt if any of those are true celluloid, probably some form of acrylic.

For a long time, many blanks were sold as celluloid that I doubted. When turned, they do not smell like rubber, nor are they extremely heat sensitive.

But, they WERE labeled "Celluloid Acetate" IIRC!
