Here are a couple of the desk sets done.
Poplar and Chestnut---we made 7 of the poplar ones.
I really like the knot in the chestnut--the pen bridges the hole.
I am going to have to turn a Chestnut slim-line today to fit the stand.
I forgot that the Oly is longer--Where's my sign??????

Gary, I really like the chestnut with the knot and rough edge. It gives the stand much more character. I really like that pen, is there anyway you can enlarge the slot it sits in & keep it or when you make the SL of the same wood. The other one seems very bland in comparison. Can't tell but looks like saw marks were left on it. Did this wood come from a special tree, old building, etc? If that is the case then perhaps a note about the significance of the wood will help.

The poplar one----this is a hand hewn square log from a log cabin built in the 1860's--we left as orginal as possible--the back and bottom are sawn and sanded. They have a lot going on it just does not show in the pic.
The Chestnut---I have a bunch of the Chestnut put back in my supply.
There really ain't no room for making the slot longer.

Nice work. I like the chestnut the best. I have some nice walnut from a tree cut down to build this school about 25 years ago. It has some pieces with nice character. Thanks for sharing.
