Fig Tree

Has anyone used fig tree wood for a pen blank? I have one in my back yard that is going to be removed, so I was wondering if the wood from this tree would make an interesting pen?

yes, fig does make for some pretty pens......and some great bowls. if you should save some of the larger pieces i would love to trade.

I've done a few from the fig trees in our greenhouse. The 'centre' pith makes it very easy to drill the blank. Since the fig does not have any figure, I dyed a few blanks to give it some distinction. Here's a pic with green dye.
