I know I can make a pen as fat as I want by turning it to whatever size I want on the lathe... but what kit has the largest components? Basically what kit can I make a very large body for and it actually look asthetically pleasing? I ask this because my wife has nerve damage and other problems with her hands and fine motor skills and the fatter the pen, the better for her. I'm thinking something the size of one of those sharpie magnun 44 markers would be great.

With the wide variety now available, there are probably better answers.

I have used the cigar and the penache for arthritis sufferers.

Did you want rollerball or ballpoint?

I think a ballpoint would be best. Something capless, either a clicker or twister...

Sorry to hear about your wife's nerve damage.

Excellent suggestions. I thought of the Guardian when reading the original post. The finger grip part may help too. I think the click would be much easier than manipulating a twist action. Good Luck.

Another vote for the Guardian. It's always the first I think of when asked about a thick pen for arthritic hands.
