In a recent post of mine ( http://www.penturners.org/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=28702 ) Mark Ligget commented that my tubes were the wrong way round. The instructions supplied with the kits I use show the shorter tube at the nib end.

I have tried with the tubes the other way round but found I had to insert the twist mechanism a long way down not just to the indent. Are the kits I have got different to every one elses or do you push the twist mechanism a long way in [?]

They actually work either way, the classic way is the long tube on the bottom. You can even experiment with different length tubes. Just push the transmission in until your refill extends from the nib. [:)]

They show it the other way around.[:)]

Do one each way and see which style you like better.

I personally found (by mistake) that a long fat upper with short skinny lower looks kinda out of balance.

so I use the long lower, short upper technique. And yeah, you do have to push the trannie in a long way. but it works as it's supposed to.
