I was looking at some of this stuff at AC Moore craft store recently, and was wondering if it would be a good choice for pen finishing. It comes as a liquid and a spray. Package states one thick coat os equal to 50 coats of lacquer.

A buddy of mine used it to finish a bartop with... Looks like glass when used at full strength.

Just curious...

This is, iirc, a two-part epoxy finish. I have not used that particular epoxy to finish a pen with, but I would have to guess that the cure time is too slow for our threshold of patience[8D]. Certainly would be durable and pretty, but if you wound up having to do two coats, man, talk about a lot of work. I prefer to seal my pens with CA, make a dozen or two pens, and then spray'em all with lacquer or catalyzed varnish and call them done. That way I can spray "satin" lacquer and get a beautiful satin finish or I can buff them on the lathe with Micromesh for insanity gloss.
