I have a request for a Cigar pen made with some wood of great significance, he wants someone's name engraved on the pen. Do I engrave the upper or lower pen barrel ?
Does anyone worry about which direction the writing goes for a right hander, or lefthander ?
Thanks for any help.

I do a lot of casting ,so when the top half has a logo or something I don't want to distract from I'll engrave on the bottom. Other than that I always put names or whatever on the top. I also try to do the same as Mannie and have the name printed so it can be read while the writers holding it.

One thing a lot of folks forget to consider is if the owner is right or left handed. All commercial pens, cups etc are set up and printed for right handed people. This will appear upside down and backwards when held by a lefty. (Yes, I'm a lefty)
