I did my first el presidente and after assembly the cap screws on very hard and tight i was able to get the black threded coupler out and when i screw it on the nib it goes on very smooth i then pressed it back in and again it goes on very hard and tight. i think i may have not pressed it all the way in the first time before i pressed on the center band and that possibly the center band is pinching the black threded tube not sure does anybody have any sugestions? also if i need to remove the center band what is the best way to get it off without scratching it up?

Thanks Shane

Shane,
This may hurt.
As the instructions say, the inner threads should be pressed in first, then the cap's lower endge band.
If you could pull the black plastic threaded liner out, then it was probably not seated deep enough.
Don't know of any good way to remove edge band. Did this just recently, and gripped edge band is wood clamp jaws. Got the band off, but also warped the band. Would probably cut the cap materail up to get the band off now.
Hopefull, other ideas will come in...
