The only dumb question is the one you don't ask....... As for using a dehydrator, I dunno, wouldn't a microwave be quicker? Interesting theory though.

I use the microwave a lot and it works great.
One warning, I read and sort of can confirm that the wood should be placed in a sealed container when doing this. Wood releases acid that can wreck havoc on your microwave electronics and connections.
Release steam/moisture outside the container (and microwave) after each cycle.
