Attahced (hopefully) is a .pdf that has both a decimel equivalent chart to relate to fraction, wire, letter, and metric sizes, as well as a tap drill chart for most common nc and nf thds.

Hope this helps with some of the questions being thrown around here.

I will hopefull hopefully have one for metric tapping as well this week

tap drill formula

Here is a simple formula to determine the proper drill size for machine screw's. nominal screw dia. - pitch.

Example: 3/8-16 thread pitch = .375 devided by 16 = .0625 this is the pitch. nominal size .375 minus .0625= .3125, the proper tap drill for a 3/8-16 thread is .3125 or 5/16.

this works on all machine screw threads, including metric, hope this helps.
