Has anyone else had a problem with denatured alcohol (DNA) darkening the grain on light woods, like ash and maple? As I'm turning and sanding, the wood stays nice and consistently light, but as soon as I add the DNA to clean out the grooves, the grain darkens slightly while the raised portions remain light. I know an alternative to DNA is to blow compressed air onto the blanks, but I have found that it is not as effective at drawing out some of the grit. Any thoughts are appreciated.
