I saw somewhere that you should never start a project if it didn't require you to purchase a new tool. So I thought, "fossilized crinoids are already round ... hmmm?" Purchased (that's the key word) some 6mm diamond drill bits and set to it. The crinoid I chose was the right diameter so didn't need to alter that. You can't really see the striations like I had hoped. Maybe I can find some with more contrast and try again?

Nice attempt and overall nice pen, sometimes they seem better in our heads :/ I have some crinoid marble I tried to work, but the edges are really crumbly so I put it on the back burner for a while. Maybe I will re-visit the piece after DC.
