OK, I finished turning and polishing 3 Desire pens. Things couldn't have gone better until it was time to insert the spring into the lower finial. It is supposed to go in larger diameter first, but the diameter of the spring is larger than the diameter of its target in the finial. And, the spring itself is rather rigid, so compressing it diameter-wise to get it in there is not an option. I'm sure there is an easy answer to getting that spring in there, and I'd appreciate your tip.

Twist it in as though you are unscrewing in a bolt with the spiral trailing. Same as getting a poster in or out of a cardboard tube.

I got an email from Constant. It sounds like the wrong spring was packed with the kits. Trust me on this, that spring doesn't screw in or press in. He is sending replacements, but also recommends either cutting the spring or using a Sierra spring. On the last pen I assembled, I cut the largest diameter part of the spring and pressed it into the finial. Worked fine.
