I just attempted my first designer pen. Everything looked good until the fit up of the kit. All the fits were loose. A little ca took care of the pieces except for the mechanism. The mechanism slid right in with hand pressure & became loose the further in it went.
The tubes look a little out of round. What could have caused this ?
Does anyone have any sugestions on salvaging this pen ?
Any thoughts on the cause of this & how to prevent this from happening again ?

Alan,

The reason I asked is that I have had poly glue warp a tube and if not using the right size milling drill can also really mess up a tube if too small in diameter.

Not sure what can be done to fix the pen, but maybe one of the experts will jump in and have some advice for you shortly.

where did you get the kits from? I just did some from PSI with no trouble but there about 6 months old.

Hi,

Was it the regular on the Premium disigner? If it was the premium, you probably get the 8mm pencil tube instead of the 8mm pen tube.

If it was the regular 7mm, don't know what happen, a out of round tube should thighter, not loosser. Same with a tube with some glue left inside.

If the tube were out of round it would not be a looses fit.
I am guessing you scarred the tube with the mill and peened over the end.
Brass is malleable and can distort its shape easily/
INsert the mill in the tube before turning on the DP.
Check the end of the mill for built up glue or burrs.
