I have seen some mention of someone making denim pens.
Does anyone have a picture of one. My daughter wants
me to make her one and I would just like to see one and
maybe get some tips on making one.

Thanks
Paul

Paul,
Don't know how he does them but, if you look in Eaglesc's album, you'll see a couple pretty good pics.
Those pens are so cool looking.

As of yet there really aren't any"directions" because each time I do one I try to improve on the way I did it the previous time.
I can say the first time I did it I started with scuffed tubes, strips of denim cut uniformly about 5/16 ths" with a razor knife and thin CA glue.I held the tubes any way I could so I didn't glue my fingers to them.
Turning is another thing.
You need to save your shavings as you turn so you can fill in voids, therre are a lot.
Finger nail or straight skew is the tool to use gouges well they do that they gouge out the material.
I guess making these pens, you don't get a catch, you get a run.
I found that thick glue was teh best to use and don't do any sanding until you have built up a uniform surface.
Once you get that far you can sand as you normally would but pe prepared to build up teh CA because pits are very noticeable.

BB is the owner of Arizona Silhouette---Bill Baumbeck
He is where I buy most of my pen kits from.
There is a link to his web site on IAP's home page.

Actually it's not as much as you might think.
Certainly not as much as my first CC pen.
For what a denim blank costs, I can buy a lot of glue for denim pens I make myself.

EagleSC, have you ever taken the time to document the steps you follow? If so, I'd love to see, as I'm sure would the other novices, more precisely what you do. I have toyed with the idea of making a pen of snake skin and some other materials, and covering it with CA or another coating is probably the best way to go, although it will mean that I won't be able to feel the skin as well.
