When I make Slimlines, I use the 10K Beaded Slimline from CSUSA. Earlier this week, I turned two TruStone blanks, polished them up and was assembling the pen when I ran into an unusual problem. The nib with that kit has two beads just below the portion of the nib that is inserted into the tube. The nib in the kit that I was working with was in every detail like all of the others I've made, except that it had three beads instead of two, and the third bead took up most of the inserted part of the nib. I called CSUSA, and of course they replaced the part. Assuming that all of the kit parts are cast from the same molds, I can't figure out how that could happen. A quick scan of the catalog doesn't turn up another kit with three beads on a slimline-style pen.
