my wifes grandfather had me cut down his mimosa tree and i made him a pen out of it. He gave me some deer antler a few years ago and i incorporated it into the wood. WHen it was on the lathe, i put a coating of tung oil on the wood just to keep it pretty. It turned the antler yellow.

is there any way to keep deer antler white and use tung oil? coat with CA?

just wondering how it's done..

I use shellawax friction polish on the deer antler pens I make. I have never noticed any color change. I just looked at some I have and they are still off-white/white.
YMMV. Tim.

Dont see the need to oil the antler, Ive done it both with CA and just polishing the heck out of it. personally i like how it looks and feels just sanding the bare antler down smooth with MM
