Has anyone made these pens? My brother is a teacher and asked me to make him a dozen to give as gifts to some of his colleges at work for the holidays. Turning these kits wasn't much of an issue once I figured out how to turn a spacer for my barrel turner. The problem I am having is with the transmission/mechanism. I am not impressed with the action on any of them, they seem somewhat unsmooth or jerky. I have two or three that aren't working at all. Has anyone else had a problem with these? Any ideas as to what I can do to make the trans a little smoother? Thanks for the read and your helpful insight?

Made 5 of each the duo and the p/p combo. Both are extremely length sensitive. The transmission doesn't inspire confidence...if they don't sell they will probably be holiday presents for the family.
