Crushed stone

I made this pen for my wife and thought that it would be a good time to try some crushed stone. I crushed a small piece of amethyst and set it in the eyes. Because they are so small i just set them in place with CA glue and the finished over them. I had hoped the they had a little more sparkle to them then what they are... any advice?

Paint the holes with silver or chrome, before inserting the gemstones.

Helps to get a reflection.
