I was turning a corian sierra last night and ran into a bit of trouble. Right as I finished shaping the pen, it noticed at one end it became rubbery and fell apart, can anyone shed some light on this, I like the material and want to keep using it. any answers would be mostly appreciated. thanks

Keven: I've turned a bunch of Corian and only had a melting issue once. I was riding the bevel with a large skew and the heat it generated started to soften the Corian. The skew as scary sharp, but the bevel rubbing caused the problem. I don't do that any more, and have not had any problems.

Grant, I've noticed that same heat build with riding the skew bevel on other plastics as well. How did you go about using the skew without riding the bevel? Iron grip and damn the catches? :D[:p]
