On another website I found instructions on making a copper wire pen by Kenn Osborne. The pen turned out great for the most part, but my question is...

How do you keep the ends from totally fusing with the bushings? I basically had to break mine apart. The majority of the blank was okay but the ends were a little ratty looking. Any suggestions, I'm all ears?

I tried it a couple months back and ended up with the same result... only worse. I had to use a vise, ruined the pen barrel and pretty much chingered up the bushings beyond use. I gave up on that one after one try[)]

I haven't seen the tutorial you both are talking about but when I made mine a couple years ago I just wrapped the wire around the tube applied the solder then milled like any other pen.

Don't solder with the bushings in place. Or, make some wooden bushings just for wrapping (so they don't have to be to size).
