cool weather

I posted this on another turning forum but in case anyone here has a solution
It gets cool down here in S.C.,like this morning.
I have a D.C. hook-up vented outside at present on my lathe stand.
Has anyone considered a down draft arrangement (not using a D.C.) but a squirrel cage fan?
I imagine vibration might be an issue.
Any one try this?

Eagle, the president of our local club has a rig using a squirrel cage. It is a box at the bottom with casters and what resembles a wide periscope standing up to lathe-height. The opening looked to be about 6" x 12". It has filters in the box base. He turned it on while sanding and you could barely here it.

If you are interested, I'll try to get him to take a couple pics of it.
