I have some rifle cartridge casings that were engraved but the engraving is rather hard to read as it sits and I started contemplating color filling the engraved areas. I started to consider tinting epoxy to fill in the area in question and then sanding/turning away the excess.

Anyone done this? Any certain material used as a tint? Any specific epoxy?

About Laser Marking : Bullet Pen Kits

I believe Slvanite (Eric) engraves shells, fills them and then he powdercoats them. he says that if people like to brasso the shells to get them shiny and keep them shinny and the infill material will be eaten away with the brasso. Thus he powdercoats so the always stay shiney and no maintenance.

Maybe not much help with what you want to try but it is an option.

Happy turning.

Not really an option as I already have them and the engraving is smaller/more intricate than that example. Thanks though.
