I had a customer order a Cigar pen for his son about a month ago. His son is away right now serving in the military. He's been using the pen himself for the last few weeks, and now wants to order one for himself. The only thing he doesn't like about it the clip. He said the edges to too sharp for his liking. I told him I would research replacing the clip with something with softer edges. The Ulta-Cigar clip looks to be a possible candidate, but I was wonder if there were other options out there that would fit a cigar pen. Thanks.

The Junior Gent clips fit cigar pens....and look quite AWESOME(IMHO)!

Steve,

I'm pretty sure they don't fit. The ring hole size is much different.

The magnum kit mentioned dies look pretty much identical to the jr clip but the sizing on top is quite different.

This is probably what you mean anyway, I just didn't want the op to be possibly confused.

Yep, your right. I've switched to Magnum kits in all of my cigars just because of the clip. I assumed they were the same until I just held two up together.....completely different.

Cigar clip Replacement

I went thru most of my clips today and found the Sierra click to be the better fit without any alterations, and it has no sharp edges! also you can swap over the Cigar clip and use it on the Sierra. here's some photos.

I'm now in the shop, intending to play around with these clips. What I discovered is that the sierras that I have don't want to let go of their clips very easily. What's the secret to string the clips off without destroying the clips or fitting?

He said it was the Sierra click Are you trying clicks or twists?

This is perfect...I'm glad I asked! I don't have any Magnum kits, but have plenty of Sierra Clicks. I think I'll offer him that option since I believe the Ultra-Cigar clip will look a little odd on a regular cigar kit.

Thanks all!

Reading is fundemental.

I was trying a twist. I don't currently have any clicks. I'll have to pick up a few to play with.

I just got a chance to try John's clip removal process today. The plastic clicker part of my Sierra Button Click looked a little different than the one in john's photo...different venders??? Anyway, when I screwed of the brass cap the plastic clicker fell out on its own. So I did not need to go through the step of making the modified punch tool. I secured the cap with the clip in my wooden vice, and used the punch to tap out the brass bushing, and the clip came loose as John promised. Now on to making a new Corian stars & stripes pen and seeing if I can entice my customer into buying it.
