Hey, I've been wanting to try a Churchill or El Grande, but I'm not sure if the larger bit would fit into the 1/2" chuck on my cheap drill press from Harbor Freight. Anyone have any luck with this?

I haven't tried it but 13.3mm =.523" so it might be a snug fit.

edit: Karl, I don't know what I was thinking (must be sleepy). I have done El Grandes using a 13.3mm and it does fit in my dp 1/2" chuck.

I just received one today. It won't go. Straight shanked all the way up. I will have to put the other chuck in to use it. Where did you guys get your turned down ones? I'm going to use this one, as I have a couple of larger chucks, but others might need to take this into consideration.

Mine is from AS too. I looked at the website, and it says that it is straight shanked. My bit was made in China. I just used my big chuck, and it worked fine. Sure gets tight with a slightly smaller than 3/4" blank though! I had to de-gunk it first, as it was coated, but it was sharp right out of the package, and it runs true.
