There's several ways. I usually just drill a 1/4 inch hole square the center band blank and put it on the mandrel between bushings or between pen blanks and turn it to shape. You can also drill 7mm and put a tube in it---or, I have made the top tube a little longer and parted it at the bottom part of the tube and glued on a center band.
