I made quite a few carbon fiber pens for presents this year and because of avalibility I used the Captains blanks from Exotic and ones from PSI. Both were wet sanded to 12000 with MM and then finished with One Step. With the PSI blanks I did not get as bright a shine as I did with the others. I can only imagine that they are made from different kinds of resin. Does anybody out there know the reason for the difference?

PSI doesn't make the blanks, they just sell whatever their chinese suppliers have. So I wouldn't be surprised if you can never find out exactly what it is made of.

Exotics will be able to tell you what yours is.

The Alumilite comment is very possible. Polyester resin can shine up better, though Alumilite has started making a resin that reportedly shines as well. I haven't tried it though.
