I just bought some carbon fiber blanks for gifts this season.Have any of you tried and Is there anything I need to know about turning these?I have heard they can be difficult. The blanks come pre drilled and tubes installed so that is one step out of the way and one less thing to mess up........

Don't over turn..(cut below the clear acrylic). Use sharp tools. Take your time...these look great when finished. Please excuse the photo.

I've probably made about 100 pens using the pre tubed CF blanks, and it's one of my best sellers in a Bolt Action, Gearshift, Vertex, Knurl, and now the Raw pen kits. I use carbide tools with a good fresh cutting edge.

The long strands of resin tend to clog up my dust collector at the motor, so I added a screen to the hood to catch this build up. Very easy blank to work with, and I have never had one chip or blow up. Wet sand with micro mesh and then buff with white diamond and Hut's plastic polish for a great finish.
