I have a bunch of blanks sitting around so I thought I'd make a couple pens. I might have known what this wood once but I don't now. Does anyone recognize the wood in these pens.
The wood in the Euro pen gave off a fruity smell when drilling and turning, if its any help.

With the look and the fruity smell I would say tulipwood. The top of the Euro doesn't look like tulipwood I've worked with, but the bottom half and the other pen do.

Tulipwood has purplish grain lines in the unfinished state. The Euro is certainly Bocote. If the Sierra blank didn't have a purplish hue when starting, it might be Olive wood.

I'd be willing to bet the Euro is bocote. The Sierra looks like zebrawood to me.
I agree for the Sierra I think it is probably Zebrano. Though for the Euro my experience with bocote is low but I do not remember any fruty smell. Maybe olivewood??
