Cactus Blank Question

I think the cactus membrane would peak through in some areas when turning it down. With this in mind, when finishing these, do you have to coat them with CA? I won one in the last raffle and want to turn it. Any help on this will be appreciated.

Yes some of the skeleton will as you say peak through, in other words you will feel it.I do not use a CA finish on my cactus pens,I treat them just like any other acrylic. I wet sand with the MM pads,then with the blank on med. speed on the lathe I use Brasso,then Meguires plastic auto polish. I have turned about 30-40 so far and had great success with this method. The skeleton that you feel is still encapsulated (sp) in the PR or in your case Alumilite.
