I just bought the Cabra-Tec lathe from Pen State.
It comes with a 3" tool rest. Cute but I'd like a 6".
Does any one know the post size or know where I can get one?
Pen State has an 8" but I think that's too big for my use.

Thanks

Steve,

You will need to get one made for you. We have several people here on the forum with the skills to do so. Mine had one already made for it when I bought it.

BTW, if you look under the rails of the lathe at the top to the motor, you will see a screw cap in the middle of a non-metallic circle. This is the access to change the brushes. COVER IT WITH TAPE OR ANYTHING TO PROTECT IT!!!! (Yelling intentional.) Read my two posts about Carbatec Lathe problems and you will understand.

FWIW,

Penn State sells an 8" one. You can buy that and have it cut down with a hacksaw cheaper than having one made. I started pen turning on a Carbatec and immediately bought a 12" rest. I never used it. The 3" that came with the lathe was just fine. It is easy enough to move.
