Caballero assembly problem

I just made a Caballero, first one. I have made the the identical pen from a different source and name before and I have a working one in front of me. Problem is the Schmidt rear end will not go into the end cap easily so the point protrudes but when you write with the pen the cartridge pushes back and the spring is not able to keep the point out. The pen cartridge fits my other Jr. gent and works properly. My feeling is that the internal diameter of the end cap is slightly too small and grabs the refill. Has anyone had this problem.

This was recently addressed by Smitty. It is believed that the plating is too thick.

It is the back end of the refill on mine at the end cap that is the problem not the shoulder of the front of the refill.
