I'm putting decals on wood. Once on the wood I turn the lathe by hand and apply CA to the decal making sure it's flat and covered. If I spin it on the lathe at this point I find I risk pulling the decal some.

The issue I have is after hand applying CA it's not smooth and if I try and smooth it down I cut into the decal. (wet sanding with 600 grit or micromesh)

So do you build up the CA and when you have a good thick cover on it, lightly sand and turn it smooth? Or maybe you have something else you do?

Thanks, appreciate any insight you can share.

I do decals all the time and have no issues. I put two coats of thin CA on first and let it dry for 24 hrs. than apply the decal and let dry another 24 hrs. than put 10 to 15 coats of med. CA on and use accelerator between each coat, let dry 24 to 48 hrs. than sand to 2300 and polish with plastix . Has always worked for me. Hope this helps.
