Just an opinion question....

If a pen calls for a .532 bushing diameter and I have the same tube sized bushing that is .535....

Example:

A Jr Gent 1 Rollerball
15/32 tube .532/.532 25/64 tube .462/.483

Jr Gent Ballpoint
15/32 tube .535/.535 25/64 tube .480/.460

Will ANYONE REALLY notice a +/- difference of .003 or.002?

Depends on the person and situation. If you are selling at a low end craft show, the expectations are different than at a fountain pen collectors show.

Tolerances and lot variations are why many recommend measuring components and matching components.

My view is that bushings are best viewed as an approximation, and the real test is between the components and the final finished turning.

Then it is down to your standards and tolerances.

Yes ! . Most likely, the resulting pen barrel will be off center, which magnifies the discrepancy.

I usually find the bushing gets sanded down at the end so I just use it as an approximate size and measure as it gets close to that.
