Is this Amboyna Burl?
It was in an assorted pack of blanks so there is no reference numbers.
I got it turned down to about 3/4" and am going to try to drill it for a full size gentlemen's pen kit in Ti gold.
If I can drill it true there should be plenty of stock for the blank shape.
Not much error room as the bushing size on the cap is .653"
I do like a challenge!

Well, it looks identical to some Amboyna I have here, not exactly burl but from a flinch where you get that sort of grains with the sapwood edges...!

I may be wrong, there are others that could be equally identical, with a finish on it, it may be easier to identify better.

Cheers

Thanks all for the replies.
George, you are right. A finish would be clearer.
However, I had quit making pens for a while and have no more CA.
I placed an order today.
I also realized that it would be a good idea to use some CA to stabilize this blank before finalizing the shape.
The cap section is at about .745" so as long as I don't goof up from hear on, I should be OK. I need .656" on the ends and I like a little crown on the shape.
