box for slightly large majestic pen

So I'm in a pickle... I made a majestic pen for a customer and ordered a box and insert from PSI for it (this one: http://www.pennstateind.com/store/PKBOXMPR.html). I turned the pen about a week ago and just on the box today.

I turned the pen with a curve (so that the middle is wider then either end) and now it isn't even close to fitting in the box. Does anyone know where I can get a box that will for sure fit a slightly thicker Majestic pen???

which, while the pen did fit, it was very tight and difficult to remove.

I was at my local WoodCraft yesterday & they had a box that looked like the lift pen box without the lift mech in it. It looked like it would hold a very large pen. I looked on the WoodCraft site but only saw lift pen box listed. Your probably going to have to take a drive over there.

If you're near Rockler or Woodcraft, you could just take the pen w/ you and try out.

Woodcraft used to carry (they still may, but inventory is dependent on the local store) a triangular wood box that was fairly huge. I wouldn't be comfortable putting a wood pen into it unless I made a custom foam insert!

You could take a router or a dremel w/ sandpaper to your existing box, and rout/dremel a groove in the lid to fit your Majestic barrel, then, re-finish the lid with finer sandpaper and a spray of lacquer. I've done that with the smaller wood cases when I was making fatter Euro-style pens as presents.

I use the Cabretta box from CSUSA. Black is 50-3100, Burgundy is 50-3110 and they are $3.75. Lau Lau Woods has them cheaper but only in black.
