As part of the award for the Youth contest I received two blanks that I am not sure about. (Thanks, Minnesota IAP for the blanks.) I tried to look them up via the internet, but still am not sure.

One is marked clausia and I cannot find any info on it. The closest I come is with calusia (minus the a) is a tree called Calusia Rosa in Hawaii. It looks like it will be an interesting blank to turn.

The second blank is mark lignotuber. I see that a lignotuber is a bluge at the bottom of a tree and is often associated with eucalyptus.

I like to know as much about the woods I am turning as I can. It helps me spin the tale when I am selling them.

Thanks for your help.

If you can give the measurements, and if you have a way to weigh each blank, we can calculate the density and that often helps ID the wood on one of the professional wood ID sites.

The lignotuber looks pretty dense like you'd expect from a eucalyptus.

Congratulations on your prize !!
