I posted a couple months ago asking what an alternative to the O size drill bit could be. I remember Old Griz answered me, but I can't remember the answer and can't find the post. Was it 5/16? Can't remember and don't want to go drilling into blanks without knowing.

Thanks,

Patrick

I generally use either a 8mm or a 5/16"... the 5/16" is .0035 undersize but I have never had a problem and I use epoxy to glue all by tubes...

You mean you guys actually Measure your bits?
Mine are so boogered up where they go in the Jacobs chuck,I cam't read them. I just "eyeball" em against the end of the tube.I try to go on the small side,I can always redrill them larger.

If the kit calls for an "O" bit, I think the holes are a little bit too small, I have this problem with the Am Flattop pens. I have changed over to metric bits and use a 8.1 or 8.2 bit for these holes. The 5/16 is smaller than the "O", and instead of buying a metric bit, a "P" bit will do.
