If you're looking for a way to clean out excess glue from the inside of the barrell, take a look at this link.....

The spun stainless steel wire does a fairly good job of cleaning out glue, including CA. I chuck the brushes into my cordless drill, and use both forward and reverse at a medium speed. Since you can get these from .22 caliber up through the various gauge shotgun sizes, you can find a fit for every tube. I normally use the brush next larger size over the barrel- that way as it is spinning into the barrel it has to compress slightly, which is needed to clean out the CA.

If you have a sporting goods store or an Academy Sports near you go to their hunting dept. and you can purchase several sizes of gun barrel cleaning brushes similar to what's sold from the link Lyle posted. They're only a couple of bucks apiece and you can get different sizes for different size tubes.

Plug the ends of the tubes with something to keep out the glue. Some choices are potato slices or clay. Personally, I like using the sheets of base plate wax used by dentists. I get it at a dental lab and purchase a one pound box. It is also sold by Arizona Silhouette at http://www.arizonasilhouette.com . It is quick and easier than cleaning the glue out of the tubes.

For squaring the larger blanks I use a disk sander with a jig I made. In fact, I square most blanks on the jig. It has a short mandrel and I use shims for the different size tubes. Look at this page and count down about 17 articles for instructions on how to make a jig for use on a disk sander. http://penmakersguild.com/articles.htm
