Just finished a Havana. It is a great kit from Crafts Supply
and alot of fun to make. The only problem I had was squaring the
ends of the barrels. I have a 5/8 barrel trimmer and don't think a
3/4 would have made much difference. It is such a large pen
it was kinda hit and miss to use. Just wondering if any of
you have any suggestions. I still have a couple of kits to make.

Thanks in Advance......

Bryan,
The easiest way to do this is to make an insert that fits around the shaft of your barrel trimmer. I used some corian and drilled a 7mm hole, inserted the brass then turned it down to the inside diameter of the tube you need to use the barrel trimmer on. Mine was for my gentlemans pens.

Then you just put the insert on the shaft of the barrel trimmer and it goes down inside the tube of the larger pen blank to keep it from sliding from side to side.

Kink of hard to explain but this is the easiest way to do this that I have found.

This is good news for me. I was just contemplating purchasing different size reamer bits but not now. I love making my own tools. I used aluminum arrow shaft and masking tape for the jr. gent.
I,ve got one jr. gent made out of the curly koa that my wife and Jamee picked up and I've got a comfort to make for Jamee out of the CK and then I'll send you some pictures, The koa is beautiful.
Thanks
